All Levels Open to all cross-country skiers, those who wish to refine their technique in both classic & skating, anyone who is wishing to take part in their first ski race, long ski tour or just wishing to focus on a number of technical areas of their skiing over the week and to correcting faults. Skate Week Skate week, a structured week´s skating, all day instruction on all skating methods, will also include downhill work, steep ups, cornering and skating on the flat. Classic Week A week´s classic track skiing, time to master the finer points of the sport and also to learn the so called black art of grip waxing. This is open to all levels, and is a good starting point for those looking at taking part in a long distance classic race or tour. Race Training This trip is for those who have some experience of racing in marathons, on roller skis or may be looking at competing at the British Championships or marathon races later in the season. A harder week´s skiing in both classic and skating, so a good level of fitness is required, but not essential. About Cross Country Skiing If you are new to the sport, or have taken part in roller skiing over the summer months and would like to move onto snow, then there are a number of trip options open to you. New to cross-country skiing, at Totally Nordic we offer group trips and individual instruction in both classic and skating. Each day the instructors will start with very simple but very effective teaching drills that will give faster learning progress during the first few days of the trip. These drills are not just for beginners, even at world class level, top athletes and racers still go back to these drills to correct any faults that may be recurring during a winter season of skiing and racing. With up to date teaching methods, progress is fast, and with 100% all day ski instruction and a one to one instructing service. A typical day is made up of two blocks, the morning instruction with the group first, then the instructor will spend a little time with each group member and focus on one problem or area that the client would like to work on. The second block of skiing is a tour from the resort, but teaching does not stop on these trips each day. The instructors are always skiing within the group teaching on a one to one basis as the group moves along. This way, you are learning as you are skiing and also taking in little points about your skiing. At the end of the day, we take you back again to the drills of the morning to refresh what you have learnt over the day. Long lunch breaks are also an important part of the trips each day, as rest in the middle of the day is very important to clear the mind and rest the body for the second part of the day. For the more advanced skiers, we can specialise a week of classic or skating or mix the two, it is up to you. We can work all week on one problem area of your skiing if you wish, the choice is yours. You may have a race or long ski tour coming up, and would like to work on a goal of being able to ski that distance by the end of the week. Learn about ski waxing, ski selection, and test other makes of skis. For the more advanced racers, video work, race training, race waxing are all available on some trips, or we can arrange a special trip for your group or club. |
