Training & Instruction

A great week for those who have been learning to skate on roller skis, and would like to transfer over to snow.
For those who are looking to take part in any one of the many skate marathon races.
  • All techniques are covered during the week
  • Transferring from roller skis to snow
  • Learning the correct ski and body positions
  • Ski and pole placement angles
  • Developing an understanding of edge control and pressuring the ski
  • Downhill and cornering work
  • How to ski the steep hills
  • Video feedback

Program
The week will be structured to each person's needs, and what they would like to improve on.

Each day there will be two training/instruction blocks.
  • The morning lesson: Focuses on technical teaching, with an emphasis on correcting faults or working on the basics of learning to skate.
  • Video feedback
  • Afternoon: We tend to ski out on the trails and work on one or two key elements as we ski, this produces faster learning progress and gives you time to understand the methods that you have learned in the morning.
About Obertilliach
Obertilliach is a village in Austria's Osttirol, not far from the Italian border and 40 minutes from the popular skiing town of Dobbiaco. It has become a favourite training area for biathletes due to its snow record, and in recent years has developed some excellent tracks and a first-rate shooting range, which has enabled it to host IBU Cup biathlon races.
Obertilliach is also renowned for its rustic charm, most of the houses are made from wood and there are some excellent cafes, hotels, and an all-important bakery in the village.
The tracks are close to the accommodation and there is a wide range of skating and classic trails.
Obertilliach also hosts the Dolomitenlauf ski marathon each season.
