Training & Instruction
This week is for those who are new to cross-country skiing  or have been skiing for one week or less, or a transition from roller skiing  to on-snow for the first time.

Also for those who have downhill skiing experience and wish to transfer over to cross-country skiing.

The week will start with the fundamentals required to classic ski, then progress to learning to skate.

Each day, the lessons will be broken down into small and simple steps that produce a greater level of progress in both techniques.

  • All techniques are covered during the week
  • Transferring from roller skis to snow
  • Learning the correct ski and body positions
  • Ski and pole placement angles
  • Developing an understanding of edge control and pressuring the ski
  • Downhill and turning
  • How to ski the steep hills
  • Video feedback

The program for the week will be structured to each person's needs and what they would like to improve on.

Each day, there will be two training/instruction blocks.
  • The morning lesson focuses on technical teaching, with an emphasis on correcting faults or working on the basics of learning to skate.
  • In the afternoon we tend to ski out on the trails and work on one or two key elements as we ski, this produces faster learning progress and gives you time to understand the methods that you have learned in the morning.

Obertilliach has a very good snow record and has invested heavily this year in increasing snow-making on the trails.

About Obertilliach
Obertilliach is a village in Austria's Osttirol, not far from the Italian border and 40 minutes from the popular skiing town of Dobbiaco. It has become a favorite training area for biathletes due to its snow record, and in recent years has developed some excellent tracks and a first-rate shooting range, which has enabled it to host IBU Cup biathlon races.
Obertilliach is also renowned for its rustic charm, most of the houses are made from wood and there are some excellent cafes, hotels, and an all-important bakery in the village.
The tracks are close to the accommodation and there is a wide range of skating and classic trails.
Obertilliach also hosts the Dolomitenlauf ski marathon each season.
